The Solent Forum is an independent coastal partnership, established in 1992 to develop a greater understanding among the many local and harbour authorities, user groups, marine businesses and agencies involved in planning and management of the Solent. It assists and advises them in carrying out their functions. The Forum now has over 50 members organisations representing a wide range of sectors.

Natural England and the Marine Management Organisation commissioned a study to collate and update the evidence base on the significance of impacts from recreational activities on designated features in MPAs. It carried out a review and collated case study examples of the range of management options such as codes of conduct and engage with national governing bodies for different activities to look at existing national good practice, opportunities for further work and recommendations. Land Rover BAR have partnered with Seabin Pty to install the UK's first Seabin on the pontoon of the team's base in Portsmouth. The Seabin, an automated rubbish collection device, will sit alongside 1,000 oysters housed in protected cages on the dock, introduced as part of a scientific project and launched in 2015.
